Ohio University (OU) and The College of William and Mary (W&M) are
seeking a postdoctoral researcher in intermediate energy experimental
nuclear physics. Both groups are heavily involved in parity-violating
electron scattering experiments at the Thomas Jefferson National
Accelerator Facility. The principle focus of the appointment will be the

Qweak experiment in Hall C, which will measure the weak charge of the
proton as a precision test of the Standard Model. This highly rated
upcoming experiment will begin installation in the summer of 2009 and
will starting taking data in early 2010. The primary responsibilities of

the successful applicant will be to take a lead role within the Qweak
collaboration in line with the focuses of the OU and W&M groups. The
successful applicant will be expected to participate in other
experiments at JLab, and encouraged to develop ideas for new
experiments.

The initial appointment will be for one year, with renewal for up to two

additional years possible based on mutual agreement and availability of
funds. The successful applicant must have a PhD in physics as well as
demonstrated research excellence. Experience with instrumentation, data
acquisition, or analysis of large data sets are all desirable.
Applicants should send a Curriculum Vitae and statement of research
interests by email (preferred method) to: rochej@ohio.edu, or by postal
mail (see address below). Three letters of reference should also be sent

(by mail or email) to the same address. The review of application will
begin on October 19, 2008. Ethnic minorities and other underrepresented
groups are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will

be an employee of Ohio University. Ohio University is an EEO/AA
employer.
